Our Building Process

The design-build concept describes a simplified process for home-building. An integrated framework for designing and building a home, it taps on the combined expertise within one company, such as Meridian Homes®, to supervise the whole project – from pre-purchase inspection through design, construction and delivery.

In the traditional method of building a landed property, the home-owner would likely sign five separate contracts – with the Architect, Contractor, Structural Engineer, M & E Engineer and Quantity Surveyor. The home-owner is the main contact person, and is expected to attend meetings and co-ordinate the schedules and communication among the different parties.

Meridian Homes® takes away the burden of liaison, and manages the project for the home-owner. Using the design-build concept, the company undertakes the architecture, engineering and construction services under one contract with the home-owner.

Advantages of Design Build

The Meridian Homes® approach offers advantages ranging from stringent quality control to time and cost efficiencies. Because the project is handled under one contract, there is greater co-operation among vendors, fewer disputes and delays, and quicker response to change. A single source of contact provides for more personal, dedicated service and accountability.

The project timeline is naturally shortened as there is no need for lengthy and costly bidding and re-designing procedures. Construction begins almost immediately after the design phase, so the house can be handed over within a shorter time. The home-owner, who has a choice of various templates and quality finishes, has enough options to create a customised dream home.
